Halloween Hayride!

Today was our neighborhood Halloween Hayride. We were so excited to get Claire in her costume...I couldn't stop laughing! Here we are on the hayride... Hold still Rob! There's a bee on your shoulder. (Ha ha)
Mrs. McSerious. I couldn't get her to crack a smile! I think she was just overwhelmed by all the kids in costumes running around.
I couldn't believe she wore the headband almost the whole time. Later on the way home I noticed she was trying to put it on her head herself!

In the wagon on the way home from a fun adventure! She's clapping along to a book that plays music.

I see you in the funny paper!*

Claire and Mommy enjoying the Sunday paper!

I'm not sure what she was doing, but I was reading the paper and she kept sitting on it. By the end, her feet were black from playing in the newsprint!
*I'm sure no one other than my brother and mom will get the title...it's a "Dad-ism" - he always says "See you in the funny papers!"

Folk Festival

It was another beautiful weekend here in Richmond so Rob and I decided to take Claire to the folk festival on Sunday. It's a great event that spreads out over a huge area of downtown Richmond. There were TONS of people, interesting things to see, and lots of cool music. (In this picture, Daddy asked Claire "how big are you?")
We enjyoed the "family tent" where they had a brazilian drumming group playing kid friendly music. Claire was pretty overwhelmed by all the people and loud music, but was very interested.

It's hard to see, but behind Rob and Claire is the belly dancer that came out for a few songs. Later she got all the kids to dance with her and play different instruments. Of course, we just watched from the sidelines!

Otters, Goats, and Bears, Oh My!

It was a beautiful weekend and we decided to take advantage of the warm weather at Maymont on Sunday with Grammy. Claire loved the otter exhibit, which we had pretty much to ourselves. Although the bears were sleeping, lots of other animals came up to Claire to say hello. She especially loved the goats. I think I was more afraid of them than she was! I'm pretty sure she would have jumped in their pens if I had let her.
Best of all were the wide open fields that she could run and play in.
