I've been avoiding this post for a week now because I don't quite know how to describe my feelings on moving out of our house - the first home Rob and I bought together and the house that we brought our babies home to. It's definitely bittersweet because we are so excited for the next "chapter" but we loved that home so much and will really miss the neighborhood and our friends there. Luckily we aren't too far away and have already been back to visit friends!

Moving day started early (5am for me, 8am for the movers.) I took the kids out and Rob stayed with the movers - we had moved all the "stuff" and movers handled the furniture. They were awesome and had everything done in less than 4 hours. I think it took us that long, if not longer, to clean up the house and finish packing up the kitchen! We tried to get as much cleaning done as possible while the kids had lunch. In all my planning, I didn't think about needing silverware for lunch so we had to borrow a knife to make sandwiches. And the funniest thing of the whole day was when I asked Rob why he had red stuff all on his face and he admitted to eating leftover spaghetti with his hands! I had been vacuuming and I think he told Claire never to tell me he had done that :-)
Then as the kids got more restless, we started giving them lollipops from Halloween. And when those ran out, Rob suggested pudding. They loved the idea....except we didn't have spoons...so we told them to use their lollipop sticks! As you can see, Fielder can't eat anything and stay clean, but especially not pudding! Oh, and then to top off the craziness of the afternoon, the vacuum cleaner broke with 1 room left to go. And we HAD to vacuum because it was super dusty and dirty where furniture had been. So I had to go borrow the neighbor's!
After getting him cleaned up, which was quite a task, we decided to just go to the apartment and Rob would go back to finish up at the house. It was time to say goodbye....what I had been dreading for so long! I found Claire laying in the floor of her room where her bed had been. She looked so sad and I still get a little teary thinking about it! We had a few tears, said goodbye, and left. What a crazy weird feeling to walk out for the last time!
We are all settled in now in our apartment and slowly adjusting. Besides learning to be quiet for our neighbors (who must hate us by now), Claire has done great. Once she saw her toys and things were all here and that she had a little playroom area, she was thrilled. She said on day 1 "Mommy, I forgot about our old house already!" I don't think that's really true, but I'm so proud of her for handling this all so well. Fielder took a bit longer to adjust - the first couple days he would point to the door and say "done!" They are sharing a room now which has been fine, except both are up so very early....yawn...In fact, they were up before 6 this morning so I better get myself to bed!
Goodbye old house, and hello to making new memories in our soon-to-be house!
