Dear Jake,

Dear Jake,
Thank you for the moon dough that you gave me at least a year ago that my mommy "stashed for a rainy day."  We finally got to play with it and it was SO FUN to make a huge mess and watch Mommy and Daddy scurry around picking up little bits that went flying all over the kitchen.  Fielder had fun mushing it up and probably only ate a little bit.  Even Charlie liked the moon dough, just ask Daddy who took Charlie outside the next day.  We love you Uncle Jake!
Love,
Claire

The Barnes family hearts Harlie

Saturday was the 2nd annual We Heart Harlie event and this year I brought the whole gang.  The event is a fundraiser for a very special little girl and her family.  Harlie's mom, Christy, is a friend of mine and she is a wonderful writer....check out her blog!

Claire was so excited to go - they had face painting, bouncy houses, zumba, and all kinds of other fun things.  (The fundraiser is a raffle and I won a prize this year!  woo hoo!!)  Fielder had a blast in the smaller bounce house and Claire couldn't stop running from one activity to the next.  It was a fun morning and an honor to be there supporting my friend and her family.

Skating!

Claire has been asking to go roller skating so we headed out today to the "kid skate."  As soon I walk in that place, the smell takes me back to 7th grade skating parties.  And I'm pretty sure they haven't changed much as far the décor since I was in 7th grade.

Claire had a blast and Fielder had fun running around.  I even laced up to take Fielder for a spin (so fun!  I could have skated all day!)  After a oh-so-healthy snack of popcorn, a blue slushy, and a lollipop, we headed home for lunch & Mimi day.  Fun times.  If I can, I'll load the video of Claire and Fielder dancing to the Cha-cha slide.

Ladies Man

Fielder loves to sneak a kiss!  We got to hang out at the park today with Aunt Mere and Kate and Fielder got a chance to practice his "game."

Azaela Photos

Time for our annual azalea photo shoot!  And look, this year Rob changed his shirt!  (But not his shorts.)

There is something ironic about taking all these pictures on Mother's Day.

(Rob's favorite)

Mother's Day 2013

Last Friday I was invited to attend a Mother's Day tea at Claire's school.  It was so sweet.....she was watching the door and as soon as I walked in, she jumped up to give me a hug and tell me Happy Mother's Day!  They had all made placemats, cards, and a gift for the moms.  We had cookies and lemonade and the kids all sang songs for us.  So adorable!
I asked Claire if she wanted to show me around her classroom and this is what she wanted to show me, the "10 ways to help the earth" poster.  I noticed #3 "Save my leftovers" - this explains why lately when she doesn't want to eat what I have prepared she just says "oh, we'll just save this because I'm helping the earth."

I had such a nice Mother's Day!  Rob let me stay in bed while he got the kids ready for breakfast and they made cinnamon rolls.  He also took them to the Childrens Museum while I did some shopping and went out to lunch with my mom!  Fielder must have even known that it was my day because he took a 2 hour nap - rare for him!  After much thought, Claire decided she wanted to bake cookies for my present, which I think they were able to accomplish while Fielder was with the babysitter parked in front of Sesame Street.

It was a really special day for me and even though these 2 kiddos can drive me batty sometimes, I am so extremely grateful for them.

Painting & Playdate

Just a couple pictures because it's been a while...

Fielder had a great time painting with his sister (and on his sister too!)

We had a playdate last week with Katie and Libbie (birthday twins.)  We had a tea party and the girls played with shaving cream!  (I thought the t-shirts were a good idea to keep their clothes clean....until we had to pull the shirts over their heads.)
