Our silly boy
Just a few recent pictures of our silly, crazy boy! His awesome teacher, Miss Ashley sent me a few of these, which was so fun to see what he does at school! She is fantastic, just like all the teachers there.
This one was from today, I'm going to guess there were sprinkles involved and he didn't want to miss one.

And this....well, Claire and I were having fun watching old videos of her, but after a while, he got bored. So I kept handing him tape to keep him occupied and this is what he came up with!

What in the world? Another weekend with beautiful warm weather! We have been so lucky! After Santa, we made a quick stop at Claire's (and Mimi's) old stomping ground! The kids had a great time and I enjoyed sitting in the sun!
Then it was my FAVORITE Christmas event....the Tacky Light Run! We had such a great time last year, I was so excited for it again this year. After a couple minor setbacks (don't worry Rob, I won't mention what happened pulling out of our driveway and our neighbor's mother's car!) and then me almost getting us run over by a bus....we were finally ready to get going!
Here we are getting ready to go through the start with Santa waving and snow falling!
We added lights to our "Christmas Carriage" (which sounds better than "stroller" especially when you're 8) And Elfie brought them each a Christmas blanket to stay warm during the race!
We had a great time again! The kids got candy canes and cookies along the way and even got to sit on Santa's at one of the houses with lots of lights. My favorite was listening to them sing "Let there be Snow" from Frosty along the way! They took turns running a bit, but with the crowd and all the flashing lights, it was much better for me to keep them in the stroller. What a workout, pushing 100lbs with all those hills is no joke! There were a lot of walking breaks for me! This was our favorite house, Christmas in Margaritaville"

The Real Santa
Rob gets a pat on the back for making the Real Santa happen again this year. (And I'm putting it in writing...next year, we'll be seeing Santa in a new location!!)
He was in line by 7am, doors open at 8, Santa comes down the chimney at 9. Unfortunately too many other people were in line earlier (5:30!!) that we didn't make it into the room to see him come down the chimney. In fact, one person was holding a place in line for about 20 ADULTS which all went in front of us. That kind of sealed the deal that we are done with Legendary!
Anyway, the kids were none the wiser and enjoyed some candy waiting in line, then we went to play in the museum while Rob continued to wait in line. I think all in all, he waited about 3 hours.
The kids marched up, sat on his lap, smiled for the camera (cameraman was a little too slow on the draw as you'll see) and chatted with Santa a bit. Of course, 10 seconds in my camera battery died!!
Claire said she wanted a Zoomer Kitty and Fielder froze a bit and eventually said he also wanted a robot. *Much to our surprise, later in the day Claire asked him about wanting a robot and he said he didn't really want that, he just told Santa because he knew she wanted a robot (cat.) See, sometimes he can be so sweet!

Christmas spirit
This was our 3rd year of going to the Foster's Christmas party and the kids always have a good time. I was excited to see that the photographer got some great photos this year! The kids sat for a long time with Santa talking about where his reindeer were, what is a Zoomer kitty, and that they have been good this year (but they were a little reserved knowing that this is actually Santa's helper or possibly brother.)
This was the picture I got before we left the house, which ended up being our Christmas card! It was a picture in between 5 other terrible pictures and I guess I just got lucky - Claire was very happy about her curly hair and Fielder decided on his own to strike a pose with his hand in his pocket. I love it and they both look so grown up! I only got around to making enough cards for immediate family....so friends, Merry Christmas from our family to yours and hopefully next year I'll budget my time better!!
Fun times in 2nd grade
I was able to go on my first field trip as a chaperone with Claire to the Valentine's museum! I don't even know how many years it's been since I've been on a school bus. She was so sweet cuddling with me on the bus (it was COLD!) and always wanted to be right by my side during the tour of the museum. (How many more years do I get that she's not embarrassed to be seen with me??)
Phew, I don't know how those teachers do it. The bus was so loud and the kids were just very excited to be on a field trip. (I got a kick out of hearing all the conversations - what spin the bottle is, who has a crush on who, etc. Yikes!)

Claire was invited to attend an awards ceremony for everyone that participated in the Reflections contest. She had written a story and submitted it at the beginning of the school year. I was really proud of her for wanting to do it and that she wrote so many pages of a very creative story. She was VERY proud of herself when she heard on the announcements that she had won in her group. 1st place!! (Out of 3 submitted, but that's ok!)
Getting ready for Christmas!
Claire and I spent "black Friday" getting Mimi and Papa's house all set for Christmas so Saturday was our big day for decorating. The kids get so excited when they see the bins come out and they find all of their books, toys, and of course elf jammies! So they spent the day in pj's and got very silly!
Our tree turned out pretty good! We are finally at a time that they leave the ornaments alone just enough that it stays looking nice :-)
I don't know what's going on with this weather, but I am LOVING it! It's not your typical Christmas-decorating day when you can have a picnic outside without a jacket!
Claire has been working hard, but she just hasn't gotten the hang of it....until now! Everything just clicked and she had the best time riding around with me. Our first actual bike ride together! She loved it and of course wants to go every weekend to the high school now to ride. (I have to remind her that this is not normal temperatures and will probably get too cold to ride soon)
Thanksgiving on the farm
We spent Thanksgiving this year at the farm with quite a few Barnes family members. It was a beautiful day and so warm that we wished we had a picnic table to eat outside!
I have to admit, Fielder made the day a little tough for me (what's new?) Rob and I spent a lot of our time making sure he wasn't breaking anything (I think only 1 thing and that was questionable of which kid broke it) or that he wasn't stealing cookies! Most conversations were cut short, but I always enjoy seeing everyone, especially Katie and Jenna who we hadn't seen in a while.
My favorite part of the day was actually alone with Fielder, outside in the sunshine. He was having fun running around and coming up to give me hugs and kisses. As much as he can annoy me at times, he has his super sweet moments that I love!
