A few random Fielder moments

Sometimes it's fun (for everyone!) to have the kids spend the night at Mimi and Papa's house, but sometimes, they'll take individual turns so they can have Mimi and Papa's undivided attention :-) This time around while Claire had a night out, Fielder and I enjoyed a trip to Starbucks.  He was not one bit jealous as soon as he heard the news we were getting cake pops!

The last time Fielder had his turn at sleeping over, Mom texted me this sweet picture.  He just loved being in bed with Papa and watching sports.  He still tells me about that night!

 I guess this isn't just Fielder, but here's a pic of our movie day with Kate, Jack, and Aunt Meredith!  Fun day!  And Meredith was brave to try it, but Jack was great.

 I took Fielder to Healthy Kids Night at the Y - he loved it.  He got to pet some animals and his favorite was this lizard.

 And here's Fielder's last official day of preschool (he's still there everyday, but they call it camp now) and they celebrated with a picnic at the park.  Fielder loves his buddies and Mrs. Brummer!

 Fielder's going to miss these guys!  They all will go to different schools in September.  I don't think it's hit me yet that he's almost ready to move on to Kindergarten.  In fact, this end of year picnic did not even seem like the end of the year to me, only because he has several more months of camp to go.  I didn't even think to bring teacher gifts!!  (I'm going to do that at the end of summer for all teachers.)  This has been such a great school for him.....oh man it's almost the end of an era.

Easter on Parade

 I love Easter on Parade!  Always fun to people watch and enjoy strolling around Monument Ave.  Kids played games and won a bunch of prizes, watched Jonathan the Juggler's performance, and found a few more people (and a pig) to take pictures with!  The "famous" bonnet guys were there and we took our pictures with Bryan (my boss!)

 I saw this pig in a baby carriage and just had to take pictures with him.  I love Fielder's confused expression posing with this random pig.  You never know what you're going to find at Easter on parade!
 

Mom invited us over for dinner afterwards at her house.  They had Easter baskets and one final egg hunt!  (her Easter bunny made it much harder than at our house!!)

Easter Parties

Easter was a bigger candy-fest than Halloween this year.  We had Easter parties galore at schools, the neighborhood, families, and of course, the Real Bunny himself.  It was a little too much, I certainly needed a sugar detox afterwards!  Fielder's school hosted an Easter party with a egg hunt.  The kids loved it and filled their baskets.

 Then we party-hopped on over to our neighborhood's Spring party.  I loved the photo op they set up!!

Egg hunt, pony rides, bounce house, games, and of course more food and candy!  Kids had a great time.  Sadly, Daddy was working and could only join us briefly at the neighborhood party for lunch.

 Easter morning went by in a flash and I only got a couple pictures.  Kids were up and ready super early and we pried Daddy out of bed around 7.  Pretty sure they found all the eggs within 10 minutes.  And the Easter Bunny brought them sleeping bags!!

My Swimmer

Katie and Claire swam for the winter team again at the Y.  I love getting to see both girls swim!  They were so cute getting their trophies :-)

My Kindergarten Guy

Look who's registered for Kindergarten!!  Woo Hoo!!  So exciting, but I tried not to build it up too much - he's still got quite a few months left at preschool!  I just can't believe he's almost to K.

Not long after Katie's art show, it was Fielder's turn.  He was counting down the days!  I couldn't get him to pose nicely or smile at the camera for the life of me.  But here he is making a pretty good impression of this skeleton artwork.

 I loved the titles of the pictures that he came up with.  This one is "A bucket that launches suns."

His turtle he drew in the beginning of the year and then again at the end.  That turtle has quite a tail!

After viewing the art, they had a book fair upstairs and cookies.  Fielder has been asking for months for a necklace with a shark tooth and as soon as we get to the book fair, what do we see?  A book that comes with a shark tooth necklace!  SOLD!  He didn't care one bit about the book, but was SO excited for the necklace.  The thrill has worn off by now, but he sure was a happy boy.  (And we did read the book, it's pretty lame.)

The Greatest Show on Earth

We had never taken the kids to the circus before and since this was the last time around for Barnum and Bailey, we decided to surprise the kids with tickets.  They were very excited and we talked quite a bit about being able to buy 1 thing - a treat or a souvenir, but only 1 thing each.  The minute we walked in the door, it was all they could think about so we immediately bought snow cones in special cups - and Rob and I prayed that Fielder wouldn't drop his on the floor!!  I don't even want to remember how much those lovely souvenir cups cost (as they sit in the cabinet in the same spot they've been since we got home.)

 I would say it was a fun experience, but not one that I feel the need to do again.  Which I guess is fine since they're never actually doing it again.  Although I'm sure someone will come up with the "newest greatest show on earth" one of these days.

As we were leaving, we were so surprised to run into several people we knew - including Katie and Jenna!!  And look at Jenna's face painting - so cute!!

Katie the Artist

 Katie had her artwork chosen to be part of a special art show downtown and we were so excited to  go see it and celebrate with her.  It made me super-proud when she called to tell me the news and invite me to come see her art!!  I'm so proud of all my nieces and I love to be a part of things like this....have I mentioned before how happy I am to have Katie and Jenna in the same city as us?!  ;-)

Fielder didn't want his picture taken, he was too busy crying and pouting.  He had been looking forward to going to Katie's art show SO MUCH and we had been talking about it all week.  He knew there would probably be treats....and we waited in line to get cookies, however by the time he got to the table they had just ran out of punch.  And he lost it.  He cried the rest of the time and just couldn't pull it together.
